Yes! If you can think of it - I can probably make it. I cater to individuals with wild imaginations, unique sizing, gender fluid styling, and small scale collaborations and commissions.
More info available on the Custom Footwear page.
How long will it take to make my shoes?
Anywhere from 4-12 weeks - depending on the design, materials, and fitting requirements.
How much do custom made shoes cost?
Crafting shoes by hand is a very time consuming and labor intensive process, with many stages, so it does come at a cost.
Pricing is variable depending on style, materials and fitting. To get an idea of the range, please read the info provided on the Custom Footwear page.
Payment plans are available.
What makes Matea Gluscevic footwear slow, sustainable and ethical?
All shoes are crafted by hand by me; Matea. The materials I use are selected with consideration of their aesthetic, sustainable as well as hardwearing properties, so your shoes will be able to last a lifetime.
Nearly all the materials I use are either recycled, recyclable, salvaged, natural fibre or intended to last a long time. I recycle studio waste where possible.
I make all the shoes myself, completely by hand, in Melbourne, Australia. There are no sweatshops or factories involved in the construction of any items. Additionally, I source all my materials from Australian businesses.

I wanted some shoes I saw listed on the site but they have sold - will there be more?
If you saw a style that you LOVE but it has since been sold or discontinued, you can request a remake and I'll be happy to make them for you!
Which sizes can you make?
I can make absolutely any size. Different sizes within a pair are possible, as well as lasts* made especially for you using your specific measurements. Custom sizing and custom lasts do come at an extra cost.
*lasts are the forms that shoes are crafted upon
How can I check what size I am?
Please follow the step-by-step instructions on my printable measuring chart.
I'm really unsure of my size - or I think I might have tricky feet - can you help?
Of course! If you've got tricky feet, or are just wanting to be extra sure of the fit, you can fill out this detailed step-by-step fitting form and send it back to me. I'll then get in touch to let you know what size you are, or if you need a custom fitting (non standard size).
I want a pair of shoes on the site, but they're not in my size...
Made-to-Order styles have a "custom size" option. If you select this option you will be contacted after ordering to confirm your size.
Samples are one-offs created in a size I've chosen at random. If you see a sample style that you LOVE but it's not in your size, you can request a remake in your size and I'll be happy to make them for you. (Sample remakes come at a higher cost than the sample).
Any complex fitting requirements will come at an additional cost.

Do you offer exchanges for faulty items?
Returns and exchanges for faulty items are available up to 14 days from receipt of goods, if the item is in its original unused condition.
Please note all footwear is individually hand crafted and therefore may have minor inconsistencies in colour and/or finish. Such inconsistencies will not be considered “faults”. Many items are constructed from reused materials, as noted in their item description, and as such consideration should be given to the unique finish and variations that this produces in the end product. Matea Gluscevic endeavours to sell all items in the best possible condition, but small marks may be visible; materials such as leather will have natural inconsistencies and marks, these will not be deemed reason for a refund.
For more info please see the Returns + Exchanges Policy.
How do I return or exchange my shoes?
Returns are available up to 14 days from receipt of goods, and only if the item is damaged or faulty. Exchanges are available up to 14 days from receipt of goods, if the item is in its original unused condition. For more info please see the Returns + Exchanges Policy.
How do I care for my shoes?
Please see the Care page for more info specific to each style and material.
When do my shoes need to be resoled?
All footwear is soled with hardwearing rubber and/or Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather. These materials will naturally wear through in time, with the Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather wearing through a touch quicker than rubber.
Please get your footwear resoled as soon as you notice significant wear. Significant wear means if you notice a full layer of soling has worn through or is about to. Do not continue to wear shoes if a full layer has worn through as this may result in further damage that is irreversible.
I do not offer resoling services as footwear repair is a surprisingly seperate realm of the shoe world and uses many different tools I don't use!
Please feel free to get in touch and I can recommend some Shoe Repairers in your area.
What if my shoes need to be repaired?
Get in touch via the contact page or email me with details of the nature of the repair required. Depending on the type of repair, I will repair it either free of charge or a reasonable cost, or recommend someone in your area that can help.
Do you offer a lifetime warranty?
In the (very rare!) event a fault does happen with your shoes that could be attributed to the design, materials or craftsmanship, I promise to repair them so you can continue to cherish your handcrafted shoes, saving them from the depths of your wardrobe, or - even worse - landfill. This falls under the Returns and Exchanges policy which you can read through here.
For any things outside of my control, such as soling naturally wearing through over time, spills, damage caused by misuse, general wear etc - I can either repair, customise or replace things for a reasonable fee or you can opt to visit your local shoe repairer (support other small businesses!) making sure to take with you the materials tag so your shoe repairer knows what’s what!
If you’re not sure what to do, just get in touch!
Are Matea Gluscevic shoes stocked anywhere?
Due to the handcrafted and one-off nature of Done by Matea footwear - there are currently no permanent stockists.
Some styles may appear occassionaly in exhibitions, runways or be temporarily available in retail spaces. Sign up to the newsletter to stay updated or check the blog!
Do you offer shoemaking courses?
At the moment I don't - because my studio isn't big enough! When I complete my move, there may be some opportunity for a shoemaking short course. Get in touch if you're interested.
