What makes Matea Gluscevic footwear slow, sustainable and ethical?
slow
All shoes are crafted by hand by me; Matea. The materials I use are selected with consideration of their aesthetic, sustainable as well as hardwearing properties, so your shoes will be able to last a lifetime.
sustainable
Nearly all the materials I use are either recycled, recyclable, salvaged, natural fibre or intended to last a long time. I recycle studio waste where possible.
ethical
I make all the shoes myself, completely by hand, in Melbourne, Australia. There are no sweatshops or factories involved in the construction of any items. Additionally, I source the majority of my materials and components from Australian businesses.

Do you offer exchanges for faulty items?
Returns and exchanges for faulty items are available up to 14 days from receipt of goods, if the item is in its original unused condition.
Please note all footwear is individually hand crafted and therefore may have minor inconsistencies in colour and/or finish. Such inconsistencies will not be considered “faults”. Many items are constructed from reused materials, as noted in their item description, and as such consideration should be given to the unique finish and variations that this produces in the end product. Matea Gluscevic endeavours to sell all items in the best possible condition, but small marks may be visible; materials such as leather will have natural inconsistencies and marks, these will not be deemed reason for a refund.
For more info please see the Returns + Exchanges Policy.
How do I return or exchange my shoes?
Returns are available up to 14 days from receipt of goods, and only if the item is damaged or faulty. Exchanges are available up to 14 days from receipt of goods, if the item is in its original unused condition. For more info please see the Returns + Exchanges Policy.
Care
How do I care for my shoes?
Please see the Care page for more info specific to each style and material.
When do my shoes need to be resoled?
All footwear is soled with hardwearing rubber and/or Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather. These materials will naturally wear through in time, with the Natural Vegetable Tanned Leather wearing through a touch quicker than rubber.
Please get your footwear resoled as soon as you notice significant wear. Significant wear means if you notice a full layer of soling has worn through or is about to. Do not continue to wear shoes if a full layer has worn through as this may result in further damage that is irreversible.
I do not offer resoling services as footwear repair is a surprisingly seperate realm of the shoe world and uses many different tools I don't use!
Please feel free to get in touch and I can recommend some Shoe Repairers in your area.
What if my shoes need to be repaired?
Get in touch via the contact page or email me with details of the nature of the repair required. Depending on the type of repair, I will repair it either free of charge or a reasonable cost, or recommend someone in your area that can help.
Do you offer a lifetime warranty?
In the (very rare!) event a fault does happen with your shoes that could be attributed to the design, materials or craftsmanship, I promise to repair them so you can continue to cherish your handcrafted shoes, saving them from the depths of your wardrobe, or - even worse - landfill. This falls under the Returns and Exchanges policy which you can read through here.
For any things outside of my control, such as soling naturally wearing through over time, spills, damage caused by misuse, general wear etc - I can either repair, customise or replace things for a reasonable fee or you can opt to visit your local shoe repairer (support other small businesses!) making sure to take with you the materials tag so your shoe repairer knows what’s what!
If you’re not sure what to do, just get in touch!

Are Matea Gluscevic shoes stocked anywhere?
Due to the handcrafted and one-off nature of Done by Matea footwear - there are currently no permanent stockists.

Do you offer shoemaking courses?
At the moment I don't - because my studio isn't big enough! When I complete my move, there may be some opportunity for a shoemaking short course. Get in touch if you're interested.
